Impact of the Zayed Centre for Research
For many seriously ill children, research is their only hope. Scientists and clinicians in the Zayed Centre for Research aim to work together to fight children’s rare diseases.
The cross-platform approach focuses on:
- Developing genomics expertise to advance understanding and improve diagnoses and treatment
- Pioneering regenerative medicine techniques to replace, engineer or regenerate human cells, tissues and organs
- Scaling up gene therapy approaches to correct genetic mistakes offering transformative and curative treatment for a wide range of complex childhood conditions
The centre is a catalyst for global collaboration and unique national and international partnership opportunities. Research completed in the centre is also unlocking invaluable treatments for more common and adult diseases, on a worldwide scale.
Most importantly, the groundbreaking new centre allows us to do more for children with rare diseases, save lives through more accurate diagnosis and better therapies that are tailored to each individual child in a personalised approach to treatment.
