RBC Race for the Kids is returning to London’s Hyde Park for its 15th year this October, with thousands of incredible participants expected to join the much-loved fundraising event to help GOSH Charity build a new, world-leading Children’s Cancer Centre and save more lives.

Registration is now open for GOSH Charity’s flagship fundraising event on Saturday 12 October, which will see supporters and families of all ages and abilities walk, jog, wheel or scoot the 5km race or the new 2km route to help raise money for the charity’s Build it. Beat it. appeal.

The event is the perfect day out for all the family, with four-legged friends welcome. Once across the finish line, GOSH Charity supporters can head straight to the family festival village to enjoy a day packed with live entertainment, music, refreshments, games and other exciting activities.

The money raised from this year’s RBC Race for the Kids will go towards helping to build a state-of-the-art Children’s Cancer Care Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to help transform children’s cancer care. Cancer is the biggest killer of children aged one to 14 in the UK, with five children being diagnosed every single day.

GOSH already treats the highest number of children with cancer in the UK, with a long history of pioneering advances. But these advances have outstripped the hospital’s current facilities, and they need a new home to develop more breakthroughs. The Children’s Cancer Centre will be designed with the needs of children and families at its heart to help more children beat cancer once and for all.

GOSH Charity is expecting thousands of participants to take part in this year’s event, but those unable to attend in person can also join the event virtually by signing up for RBC Race for the Kids at Home or RBC Race for the Kids at School. Virtual participants can choose a distance to run in their local area on 12 October or can take part with their school between 7-11 October.

Whether taking part virtually or among the autumn leaves in Hyde Park, participants will be helping GOSH Charity in its fight to make sure no childhood is lost to serious illness.

Liz Tait, director of fundraising at GOSH Charity, said: "We are thrilled that RBC Race for the Kids is returning for its 15th year this October.

“This year's event offers a fantastic opportunity for everyone to enjoy a day of family fun while raising money to help build a new world-leading Children's Cancer Centre at GOSH.

“At GOSH Charity, we believe that no childhood should be lost to serious illness. Together, with the help of all the incredible participants of RBC Race for the Kids, we can continue to fund vital services and research to help give seriously ill children the best chance possible."

RBC Race for the Kids is a global initiative that brings communities together around the world to raise money for children's and youth charities. So far, the series has raised more than $93m CAD (£52m), with RBC hoping to hit the incredible milestone of $100m (£56m) raised for youth charities and causes around the world this year.

Dave Thomas, head of RBC Europe, said: "We are proud to be supporting GOSH Charity in this year's milestone RBC Race for the Kids as we celebrate its 15th anniversary.

“Each year, we see RBC employees, friends, family and members of the public, come together to raise vital funds for this important cause. We are also excited for the introduction of the new 2k distance, making the event more accessible to all."

Adult entry costs £17.50 for the 2km race or £21.50 for the 5km route and children aged 16 and under can take part for free. To sign up or to find out more information, visit: https://www.gosh.org/race
