Technology & innovation

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) provides strategic funding for healthcare technologies, transformation and innovation projects to enable clinical and research teams to deliver better care to children at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Medical equipment funding

GOSH Charity makes around £2m of funding available annually to the hospital for the purchase of medical equipment, with a focus on innovative items and those that will introduce significant improvements in functionality.

GOSH staff seeking charity funding for medical equipment must make an application via the Procurement of Medical Equipment Group (PEG) which is managed by GOSH Finance. For more information on this process please speak to your relevant General Manager who sits on PEG or email strategyandplanning@gosh.org.

Please note that the process for GOSH Charity-funded medical equipment is currently being reviewed by the hospital and an update to the process is expected from June 2024.

Other technologies and healthcare transformation funding

GOSH Charity works closely with the Hospital Executive Management Team and Hospital Priorities Steering Group to identify priorities for charitable funding in this area. Examples of funding in this area have included investments in the Electronic Patient Record, Digital Research Environment, and Cancer and Paediatric Critical Care transformation projects. Proposals in this area should address the GOSH Charity funding principles.

This is a strategic area of charity investment and we therefore focus only on projects which have been identified as strategically important by the hospital. GOSH staff seeking charity funding in this area should speak to their General Manager to establish the need and strategic relevance of the project and then follow the standard routes within the hospital to prioritise the proposal. This may then be recommended for charitable support via the Hospital Executive Management Team.
